Nomenclature for Land Cruiser models

The first letter refers to the engine line; If it's a 6-cylinder
gasoline engine (F family), the lettering starts with an F (as in the
US-spec FJ40). If it's a 6 cylinder diesel, it starts with an H (as in
CAD-spec HJ60). Here's a few more:

F --> 6 cylinder gasoline, early to 1992
H --> 6 cilinder diesel, 1974(?) to 1990 (3.4ish liter engine)
B --> 4 cylinder diesel, 1974(?) to the present
PZ --> 5 cylinder diesel, 1991 to the present(?)
HZ --> 6 cylinder naturally-aspirated diesel, 1991 to the present
HD --> 6 cylinder turbo diesel, 1991 to the present
L --> 4 cylinder naturally aspirated diesel, 1985 to (?) (2.4ish liter engine)
KZ --> 4 cylinder turbo diesel, 1993(?) to the present (2.4ish liter engine)

The second letter is easier; it refers to the "J" line at the Araco
assembly plant, where Land Cruisers are put together for Toyota.

The numbers refers to the vehicle series:

25,28 --> For the predecessor to the 40 series, 1956-1961
35 --> a rather obscure pickup, 2-door and 4-door wagon along the lines
of the FJ25, 1956(?)-1961(?).
40,41,42,43,44,45,46,47 --> The "classic" 40/45 series, in all its
different wheelbases , 1962-1984.
55,56 --> The "Iron Pig" 4-door wagon, 1968-1980.
60,61,62 --> The newer 4-door wagon, 1980-1990.
70,71,72,73,74,75,76,77,78,79 --> The worhorse 70 series, replacement
for the 40 series, 1985-present.
80,81,82 --> the coil-sprung 4-door wagon, 1990-1998.
90,91,92,93 --> 4-runnerish 2-door and 4-door coil-sprung Cruiser
available in other markets, 1995(?)-present.
100, 105 --> the current 4-door wagon, 1998-present.

The letters follwing the numbers refer to the version; with so many
markets and so many different versions of the Land Cruiser depending on
the market and its requirements, Toyota devised a system of letters for
the different codes (Left Hand Drive vs. Right Hand Drive,
Lifthatch/Tailgate vs. Ambulance Doors, etc...)
